The new 1.3 million square-foot facility is constructed adjacent to the existing SCI-Graterford Prison. The new facility, SCI Phoenix, is located in close proximity and consists of two separate facilities which include a maximum security prison and a medium-security prison.
The project constructs a modern secure facility that houses up to 4,100 inmates and better fits the Department of Corrections population needs while reducing operational costs.
