Team Helix: Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope
In October the Helix Helping Hands Team launched their first nation-wide philanthropic initiative. The team had high hopes of assisting our local communities during this time of significant need, but they could have never imagined the overwhelming success of this inaugural event for the company-wide Helix Helping Hands group. Thanks to the generous contributions to #TeamHelix members from across the country, we were able to fill more than 160 boxes with non-perishable items resulting in over 7,500 pounds of food to donate to local foodbanks.
Team members at Fort Shafter in Hawaii single-handedly collected over 900 pounds of items for the Hawaii FoodBank. Project Executive Paul Campbell expressed gratitude for the initiative explaining, “We are thankful for the Fort Shafter Helping Hands Team and their commitment to the Oahu community, especially during this time of COVID impact and significant unemployment. We all are grateful and blessed for the opportunity to show some Helping Hands love to our neighbors.”
Hawaii wasn’t alone in collecting an impressive number of non-perishable items for their community. #TeamHelix Oakland had so much momentum and excitement for this cause, they collected an entire pallet of food just 2 days after the official launch of the food drive. And the Mid-Atlantic group generated enough support across the region to collect over 1,400 pounds of items for Capital Area Food Bank.
We know many worked tirelessly in every single region to make this food drive a success and we are grateful for the contributions people have made whether it be with items for the drive or their time. Thanks to everyone’s hard work and dedication to this charitable cause Helix Electric is helping feed families from Hawaii to Washington, D.C.
Thank you to all members of #TeamHelix who helped us fight hunger and feed hope during these difficult times!
